Adding and Subtracting Even and Odd Numbers

Even and odd numbers are two major topics in basic mathematics. Even and odd numbers are two classifications of numbers. All real numbers can be classified into even and odd numbers. Even numbers are those numbers that can be divided by 2. For example: 6 months age does baby hear (Here, 6 months is an even number). On the other hand, odd numbers are those that cannot be divided by 2. For example: Even 5 months age does baby hear . (Here, 5 months is an odd number). While applying mathematical operations with even and odd numbers, one can find certain rules. Let’s have a look at addition and subtraction rules for even and odd numbers in this post.

Adding Even and Odd Numbers
When even number s are added together, the result is also even. The formula is Even + Even = Even. For example: She bought 2 potty training toddler books from malls and 4 from online. 2 + 4 potty training toddler books = 6. The result is also an even number.

When even number and odd number is added, the result is odd. The formula is Even + Odd = Odd or Odd + Even = Odd. For example: She runs 1 child care center at Mumbai and 2 at Bangalore. 1 child care center + 2 child care centers = 3 child care centers. The result is an odd number.

When odd numbers are added together, the result is even. The formula is Odd + Odd = Even. For example: I bought 3 apples and he bought 5 bananas. 3 + 5 = 8. The result is an even number.
Subtracting Even and Odd Numbers

The same rule as addition applies to subtracting even and odd numbers and the respective formulas are stated below:
Even – Even = Even
Even – Odd = Odd
Odd – Even = Odd
Odd – Odd = Even
These are the addition and subtraction rules of even and odd numbers.
